Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Reliability Modeling Engineer to own the reliability model and failure‑prediction strategy for the V‑BAT unmanned aircraft system. You will build the quantitative backbone that predicts how the system fails and how to design those failures out—translating field data, industry sources, and test results into models that inform design, production, and sustainment decisions.

Qualifications

• Build reliability models from field and test data and translate into actionable design decisions.
• Expertise in FTA, FMECA, and MTBF calculations.
• Demonstrated ability to drive design, production, and sustainment improvements through reliability analysis.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the V‑BAT reliability model predicting system-level failure rate.
• Create and maintain the V‑BAT fault tree identifying single points of failure.
• Inform design reviews with Design-for-Reliability guidance.
• Collaborate with Design, Fleet Support, Quality, and Manufacturing to drive root-cause investigations.
• Lead reliability test campaigns in production and sustainment to verify reliability predictions.
• Lead production reliability screening to reduce infant‑mortality failures (HASS, ESS).
• Establish and track metrics — MTBF, failure-rate trends, reliability growth; report to leadership.
