Job summary

Vertex Energy’s Alabama refinery seeks a Principal Reliability & Rotating Equipment Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority for rotating equipment and to architect the site reliability strategy. You will own asset condition management, lead major failure investigations, and drive reliability competency across engineering, maintenance, and operations.

This role is currently a senior individual contributor with cross-organizational influence, with potential evolution into a leadership

Qualifications

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
12 years of progressive experience in refining, petrochemical, or comparable heavy process industry with substantial rotating equipment experience.
Demonstrated and verifiable reliability improvement results at equipment, unit, or site level.
CMMS proficiency (SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalent).
Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

Own the site's reliability strategy and asset management program.
Lead failure investigations and causal learning efforts.
Develop equipment strategies for rotating assets and apply reliability-centered maintenance.
Manage the condition monitoring program and lubrication program.
Provide machinery engineering support to turnaround planning and execution.
