Job summary

Smurfit WestRock is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer for the West Point, VA facility. You will lead the reliability program, act as the site SME for equipment reliability, and coordinate PM and PdM activities across maintenance and operations.

Preferred candidates hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 2–5 years in manufacturing (pulp & paper preferred). The role offers a comprehensive benefits package and a salary range reflective of experience.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably pulp & paper.
• Experience in reliability and maintenance practices is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the reliability program to continuously improve equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs.
• Serve as an equipment reliability SME for the site.
• Manage the Pressure Vessel and Tank integrity program, including inspections and repairs with Engineering & Manufacturing Services.
• Lead the lubrication program, including vendor interface, oil sampling, thermography, inspections and reporting.
• Ensure PM and PdM routes are implemented, audited, and improved across equipment.
• Develop training for maintenance personnel to enhance reliability skills.
• Provide weekly KPI reporting on reliability program results.
• Advise on Design for Maintainability/Reliability with purchasing, stores, and engineering.
