Job summary

Smurfit WestRock in West Point, VA is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support maintenance activities on rotating equipment, tanks, vessels, and structural projects in the mill. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
• 3–5 years related work experience in mechanical design or related discipline.
• Co-op experience in a heavy industrial facility or equivalent full-time experience.
• General maintenance knowledge of process equipment (pumps, compressors, fans).
• Ability to work in a team and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Familiarity with OSHA and safety LOTO procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Initiate Management of Change (MOC) processes with cost estimates and action items.
• Support and implement Six Sigma projects for maintenance/reliability improvements.
• Engage capital engineering to identify spare parts and develop BOMs for new equipment; develop preventive maintenance plans.
• Manage and improve mill rigging and sling inspections.
• Support projects related to PV&T integrity program.
• Supervise contractors and shop areas to ensure safety, schedule, and budget compliance.
