Job summary

The Senior Reliability Engineer at Hecla Mining Company is based at Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan, ID. You will monitor equipment condition, analyze performance against plan, and guide maintenance and operation improvements to reduce costs and improve availability.

You will lead downtime analyses on crushers, pumps, conveyors, and mobile equipment; develop site reliability metrics, and coordinate CMMS data integrity while collaborating with maintenance planners and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in reliability engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
• Experience in mining industry preferred, including a general knowledge of surface, underground and mill operations.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct regular and formal downtime analysis for critical equipment – including crushers, pumps and conveyors, hoists, chiller plant, mechanical mining equipment and underground mobile fleet.
• Produce reliability-based content for the site monthly operations report; include metrics like cost impact of plant reliability and work management KPIs.
• Work with maintenance planners and foremen to maintain oversight of the Asset Hierarchy in the site CMMS.
• Perform cyclical asset criticality analysis reviews to prioritize reliability and work management initiatives.
• Coordinate the site Condition Monitoring program and provide guidance in OA, VA, MPI/UT, thermography.
• Oversee Defect Elimination processes to identify repetitive failures and promote preventive maintenance.
• Monitor and report Leading and Lagging Maintenance KPIs; own Mobile Fleet Defect Elimination Processes.
• Lead maintenance cost reduction and reliability improvement projects.
• Develop and publish Standards and Guidelines to improve reliability across PM, procurement, inventory and work execution.
