Job summary

Investigo seeks a Senior Reliability Engineer for hardware systems in San Francisco. You will lead reliability efforts across electromechanical programs, applying Design for Reliability throughout the product lifecycle to proactively mitigate failure risks and ensure long-term quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on reliability engineering experience in electromechanical systems or sensors.
• Proven track record in testing and validating hardware for long-term field performance.
• Familiarity with FMEA, Weibull analysis, SPC, HALT/HASS, and accelerated life testing.

Responsibilities

• Apply Design for Reliability principles throughout the product lifecycle.

Senior Reliability Engineer (Hardware Systems)

About the Role

We are partnering with an innovative technology company developing advanced consumer hardware products that combine mechanical, electrical, sensor, and software technologies. The organization is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to lead hardware reliability efforts, ensuring products meet the highest standards of performance, durability, and long-term quality. This role focuses on identifying potential failure risks early in the design process and driving testing and validation strategies across complex electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead reliability engineering efforts across hardware programs, ensuring components and systems meet demanding performance, environmental, and durability requirements.
• Apply Design for Reliability (DfR) principles throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through production, to proactively mitigate failure risks.
• Translate FMEA and reliability risk analyses into targeted test plans with clearly defined objectives, acceleration factors, and pass/fail criteria.
• Plan and run Design of Experiments (DOE) to isolate root causes and address key reliability concerns.
• Design and optimize test fixtures and setups to evaluate hardware under electrical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental stresses (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, etc.).
• Drive and support failure analysis investigations, collaborating closely with design, manufacturing, and component teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• 5+ years of hands-on reliability engineering experience, preferably in electromechanical systems or sensors.
• Proven track record in testing and validating hardware components for long-term field performance.
• Familiarity with reliability analysis tools and techniques: FMEA, Weibull analysis, SPC, HALT/HASS, and accelerated life testing.

Focused on hardware reliability engineering and is not a Software Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role.
