What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for providing organization, planning, direction, and control of reliability, technical changes/improvements, and technical documentation for a client. The Senior Reliability Engineer is a seasoned engineer capable of complex process and reliability assignments. The position provides technical expertise to maintain and continuously improve a plant's asset and reliability process to minimize cost, ensure the technical means for safe operation and high product quality, and guarantee the desired technical plant availability. The incumbent can work on complex and difficult reliability problems with some assistance from the Director of Reliability. The Senior Reliability Engineer and the client must work together as a team. The incumbent may be required to be on call and must be available for specific operations and projects. This work will be performed under minimum supervision. This role will require frequent travel (approximately 40% of the time).

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Performing complex reliability engineering assignments and planning, organizing, and controlling technical engineering support for a client or clients.
  2. Oversee the reliability technical care and condition of client assets in cooperation with the client representative.
  3. Assuring the defined technical availability of a client plant according to the production requirements, with continuous technical improvements, and in conformance to changing requirements with respect to economics, safety, and care for the environment.
  4. Planning, managing, and organizing reliability engineering and technical support to client plants as assigned by the Director of Reliability. This support includes maintenance/reliability activities, technical changes/improvements, project management, and technical documentation.
  5. Providing client-specific technical expertise on applying new process developments, equipment innovations, and state-of-the-art reliability and project techniques, ensuring regulatory compliance with technical documentation and maintenance practices.
  6. Assisting the Director of Reliability in general improvements in client organizations, technical installations, etc., by working on general tasks for the client.
  7. Managing technical coordination and support for implementing and sustaining Asset Reliability Processes to improve safety, equipment reliability, and product quality at optimum efficiency and costs by:
  8. Detecting potential failures using predictive technologies.
  9. Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting operational data.
  10. Study operations and failures to lower costs and improve equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
  11. Implement improved engineering designs and procedures through collaboration with operations, maintenance, engineering, and suppliers.
  12. Ensure the integrity of the Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and standard procedures.
  13. Participate in the development of the Annual Action Plans.
  14. Train operators and maintenance on reliability practices.
  15. Coach client personnel on reliability practices.
Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: No certification is required for this position.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of extensive progressive reliability process and plant experience.

  11. Ability to provide seasoned reliability and maintenance expertise to clients.
  12. Capability to integrate engineering experience with specific plant and asset requirements to deliver effective solutions.
  13. Extensive understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  14. Aware of emerging trends and technologies in the field.
  15. Proficient in applying creative and innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
  16. Ability to use mature engineering judgment and foresight to initiate and lead studies, projects, and new developments.
  17. Capability to anticipate and solve unprecedented problems with a focus on long-term technical solutions.
  18. Theoretical technical knowledge in reliability, maintenance, and technical project work.
  19. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  20. Practical experience in addressing and resolving issues related to reliability and maintenance.
  21. Ability to apply theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to solve complex problems.
  22. Capability to integrate practical experience with technical expertise in project work.
  23. Demonstrates comprehensive skills in reliability engineering and maintenance.
  24. Exhibits strong planning and organizational abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
