Job summary

AltexSoft seeks a senior engineer to own the release process for two large open-source infrastructure products for a US enterprise vendor. Role focuses on vulnerability remediation, dependency and runtime upgrades, and maintaining stable builds across platforms with limited but validated releases each year.

You will be the technical owner of the release train, combining hands-on Go and Erlang/OTP work with direct client communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend, platform, or release engineering.
• Production Go experience in a large, multi-service codebase.
• Genuine hands-on Erlang/OTP with rebar3 and forked repos.
• Practical vulnerability-management experience with advisories and scanners.
• Ownership of releases for shipped products: version strategy & changelogs.
• Persistence to unpick long, uninformative build failures.
• Experience mentoring and reviewing other engineers' work.
• English at C1 for direct client communication.
• Comfort working autonomously with low supervision.
• Experience using AI coding assistants day to day.

Responsibilities

• Own the release train end to end for both products: dependency bumps, build, test, package, promotion, and release notes.
• Triage vulnerability reports and decide remediation path within crypto and OS constraints.
• Handle Go dependency work across ~30 microservices: updates, upgrades, regenerations.
• Maintain in-house forks of Erlang libraries with patches and lockfiles.
• Decide on replacing deprecated libraries within agreed limits; escalate if needed.
• Coordinate release sign-off with client teams and mentor a mid-level engineer.
