Job summary
Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is seeking a Sr. Corporate Counsel to support Federal and state regulatory functions. The role involves drafting FERC filings, interpreting tariffs, and advising on laws and regulations.
Strong collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders is essential. The base salary range is $184,000–$209,000 USD annually, with eligibility for an annual bonus and comprehensive benefits, including a 401k plan and paid time off.
Qualifications
- JD and active license to practice law in any U.S. state or D.C. (must obtain Indiana licensure within 18 months)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience
- Experience in utility, energy, or regulatory law
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and draft communications
Responsibilities
- Research and draft filings for FERC submissions
- Review and revise the MISO Tariff and Business Practices Manuals
- Advise on statutes, rulings, and regulations
- Collaborate with business personnel to support objectives
- Provide real-time legal insights at stakeholder meetings
- Assist with state regulatory matters as required
- Contribute to regulatory space special projects
