The role focuses on representing AEP Texas, negotiating major contracts, and ensuring regulatory compliance with agencies like FERC and state commissions.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. from a US law school, 7+ years in the energy/utility sector, and TX bar admission.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited US law school.
• 7+ years of legal experience in electric utility or energy sector, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate.
• Eight+ years of experience as a practicing regulatory attorney in private practice or in a corporate legal department.
• Active license to practice law in TX.

Responsabilités

• Represent AEP Texas in proceedings before the Public Utility Commission.
• Provide strategic legal advice on business initiatives.
• Lead contract negotiations for major projects and provide strategic legal advice on business initiatives.
• Oversee compliance programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from agencies such as the FERC and state public utility commissions.
• Represent regulated subsidiaries in proceedings before federal or state regulatory agencies.
• Manage litigation processes and coordinate with outside legal counsel on significant disputes.
• Develop training and compliance programs for employees related to industry regulations and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of legal strategies with business objectives.
