Job summary

Duke Energy's Carolinas Accounting & Reporting team is seeking a Lead Accounting professional with strong GAAP and FERC knowledge to guide complex regulatory reporting and analyses. You will lead projects, set priorities, and coordinate with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Rates & Regulatory, Tax, and external regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• 5+ years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field.
• Experience with financial systems including Wdesk, OneStream, PeopleSoft, CAPS Online, and advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI).
• Years of prior equivalent work-related experience in lieu of a degree is N/A unless grandfathered in and requires CFO Staff approval.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex regulatory accounting issues with GAAP, FERC, and other regulatory requirements and meet reporting obligations.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects (rate cases, data requests) across teams.
• Drive continuous process improvement across regulatory accounting functions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, external auditors, and regulatory bodies to address inquiries and ensure consistent accounting treatment.
• Own end-to-end process for storm cost deferrals and monitor regulatory asset balances.
• Lead accounting and reporting support for the Energy Efficiency Rider.
• Evaluate emerging regulatory deferrals and document conclusions for timely implementation.
• Manage regulatory asset/liability reporting for FERC Form pages.
• Provide rate case accounting support and testimony groundwork.
