Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation's Carolinas Accounting & Reporting team seeks a Lead Accounting professional to guide regulatory and financial reporting under GAAP and FERC rules. You will lead and mentor the accounting team, manage high-visibility reporting streams, and collaborate with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Tax, and external auditors.

This role emphasizes complex analysis, project leadership, and timely delivery of accurate disclosures, including Form 10-Q/K, with a strong focus on process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of increasingly complex accounting/finance experience beyond degree.
• Knowledge of GAAP, FERC rules, and regulatory reporting.
• Experience with Wdesk, OneStream, PeopleSoft, CAPS Online and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex regulatory accounting issues with GAAP/FERC compliance and timely reporting.
• Manage multiple high-visibility reporting streams and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Drive process improvements across regulatory accounting functions to increase efficiency.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Rates & Regulatory, Tax and external auditors.
• Provide leadership oversight to accounting team on internal reporting and allocations.
• Lead projects and develop regulatory accounting expertise and project management skills.
• Perform detailed research and document findings for management decisions.
• Communicate clearly with leadership and cross-functional teams, escalating issues as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline

CPA or CPA candidate

Graduate degree in Accounting, Business, or related fields

Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI)
