Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to guide technical direction and grow a team within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead protection and control projects, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery excellence across multiple offices.

The role requires deep expertise in protective relaying, SCADA integration, and HV substation design, with a track record in leadership, client service, and strategic project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection projects.
• Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, and substation communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control deliverables including schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, and panel layouts.
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects, including commissioning and startup activities.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements and CDM Smith quality procedures.
