Job description

Regional Sr. Project Engineer

Atlanta, GA or Malvern, PA - United States

Responsibilities

Manage and contribute to the engineering and construction efforts for store facilities, ensuring timely and budget-conscious project completion. Oversee direct reports, collaborate with various teams, and handle complex engineering challenges.

  • Team Management: Manage, train, and review the performance of direct reports.
  • Legal and Budget Assistance: Assist with resolving legal issues, budget concerns, and lease negotiations involving store facilities.
  • Status Reporting: Maintain and collaborate on the Construction and Installations Status Report, providing necessary data to the Director of Construction for financial and timeline oversight.
  • Productivity Improvements: Pursue productivity improvements within the Engineering team.
  • Engineering Plans: Create site-specific engineering plans/drawings and coordinate new store and remodel construction timelines with contractors, vendors, and internal installation crews.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve code and physical conflicts involving existing stores and construction projects.
  • Policy Adherence: Uphold Engineering/Installation Department procedures and policies.
  • On-Site Oversight: Frequently visit new store construction and larger remodel projects to ensure timely, on-budget progress and follow-up on punch lists.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with construction/installations teams, store services, vendors, leasing, and stakeholders to ensure proper construction completion dates and project budgeting. Coordinate with Installations for timeline adjustments.
  • Review Sets: Promptly review Architectural and MEP sets for accuracy in collaboration with installations.
  • Software Utilization: Use various related software to ensure project success. Work with leasing on leases, negotiations, timing, and lease/amendment exhibits.
  • Budget Estimates: Provide prompt and accurate budget estimates for the leasing team and conduct detailed RFP processes for projects where Sherwin-Williams is performing the build-out.
  • Reporting: Regularly report project timeline milestones and budget impacts.
  • Peer Support: Provide formal and informal peer support for collaborative learning.
  • Relationship Building: Create relationships with District Leadership teams in respective regions. Hold monthly construction status update meetings with district teams during new store/remodel projects and ancillary repair escalations.
  • Customer Service: Exceed internal customer communication and service expectations.
  • Landlord Repairs: Handle landlord repair escalations, including sending professionally written certified letters to landlords.
  • Engineering Problem-Solving: Solve complex engineering problems involving Civil, Fire, Architectural, MEP, and Structural components.
  • Inquiries Management: Direct Tax, CAM, and Insurance inquiries to the leasing/admin team(s).

Qualifications

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management or 8 years of related Real Estate, Construction/Engineering experience.
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Prior experience in the construction industry, ideally with retail facilities.
  • Organizational and planning skills and the ability to establish priorities and handle many projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of management, contractors, government officials, and landlords/property owners.

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Generation of store designs and estimates within an acceptable time frame.
  • Creation of new design concepts and specifications for site-specific and proto-typical stores.
  • Motivation and development of staff in the face of increased demand for services.
  • Resolution of conflicts arising from code/legal issues and/or physical constraints of stores.
  • AutoCAD & Revit
  • Construction acumen
