Job summary

CIR is seeking a Deputy Regional Director in the San Francisco Bay area to implement internal organizing plans across Northern California chapters. You will oversee contract implementation, enforcement, and staff supervision, while guiding local campaigns and coordinating with strategic campaigns, legal, and communications teams.

You will manage Organizers, participate in recruitment, and provide reporting to CIR leadership.

Qualifications

• Eight years or more of organizing experience in the labor movement is required.
• At least two years of experience leading or managing staff is preferred.
• Must be able to manage with the values of the labor movement and be willing to improve as a manager.
• Familiarity with labor law, bargaining and dispute resolution processes is expected.
• Technologically proficient with Google products and willing to learn new tech for hybrid organizing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee representation work and ensure contract implementation and enforcement at UC Chapters.
• Lead statewide and local direct action campaigns to build union power.
• Supervise Organizers, review weekly work, and develop staff plans.
• Recruit staff for the UC team and provide written reports to members and CIR staff.
• Track and maintain accurate records and participate in new organizing campaigns.
