Job summary

City of Delray Beach is seeking a responsible, supervisory recreation professional to plan, develop and instruct programs, supervise staff and evaluate performance.

The role requires teaching a variety of recreation activities for youth and adults, coordinating events, ensuring safety, and partnering with parents. Familiarity with RecTrac and MS Office is preferred; CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire; valid Florida Driver's License; ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or two years of college in a recreation study field.
• Three (3) years professional, verifiable experience in recreation program(s) and supervision.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License, with a good driving record.
• Must obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Knowledge of Logic Pro 10 for positions assigned to 505 Teen Center Recording Studio.

Responsibilities

• Teaches, supervises, organizes, and instructs a variety of recreation activities and sports for youth, teens, adults in a recreation setting.
• Trains, schedules and supervises designated staff and volunteers.
• Assists with a variety of special events, recreation programs and sporting events.
• Must be available to work four (4) mandatory special events (July 4th, Tree Lighting, Holiday Parade, and St Patrick’s Parade).
• Provides guidance on work related matters and assists to resolve employee issues, if necessary.
• Coordinates and promotes special events, advertising, and vendor coordination.
• Promotes interest in programs through publicity, flyers and social media.
• Ensures that recreation facilities and equipment are used properly.
• Receives and electronically enters registration and payment information.
• Promotes safety and ensures all appropriate laws, rules and regulations are strictly enforced and respected.
