Job summary

UES, Inc. is seeking an experienced Reinforcing Steel Inspector to support a major construction project in the Wichita area. You will inspect reinforcing steel and welded structures, review drawings and welding procedures, and ensure compliance with AWS codes and project specs.

This role involves field work on active sites, collaboration with contractors and project teams, and travel up to 40% across the region. The initial project lasts about six months, with potential for permanent employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with welding certificate program
• AWS or similar welding certification preferred
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and basic computer literacy
• Knowledge of various welding techniques, equipment, and safety protocols
• Adaptability and flexibility to changing schedules and hours to support business needs
• Strong time management, mathematics, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Performing welding inspections at active construction sites, fabrication shops, industrial facilities, and infrastructure projects
• Reviewing engineering drawings, welding procedures, specifications, and project documentation
• Verifying compliance with AWS codes, project specifications, and applicable industry standards
• Preparing clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports and documentation
• Working closely with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and engineers to resolve quality concerns and maintain project schedules
• Conducting visual inspections of structural steel and welded components
• Supporting quality assurance and quality control efforts throughout project execution
• Communicating inspection findings, recommendations, and project updates to clients and project teams
• Maintaining a strong commitment to safety while working in active construction and industrial environments
• Managing field assignments throughout the Wichita Region
