Job summary

UES is seeking an experienced Reinforcing Steel Inspector for a major construction project. You will perform welding inspections at active sites, review drawings and welding procedures, and verify compliance with AWS codes and project specs.

This position involves travel up to 40%, outdoor environments, and collaboration with contractors, fabricators, and engineers to maintain quality and schedules. The initial project is about 6 months, with potential for permanent opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with welding certificate program or vocational training.
• AWS welding certification or similar is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and basic computer literacy.
• Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Adaptability to changing schedules and hours to support business needs.
• Strong time management, mathematics, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding inspections at active construction sites, fabrication shops, industrial facilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Review engineering drawings, welding procedures, specifications, and project documentation.
• Verify compliance with AWS codes, project specifications, and applicable industry standards.
• Prepare clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports and documentation.
• Work closely with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and engineers to resolve quality concerns and maintain project schedules.
• Conduct visual inspections of structural steel and welded components.
• Support QA/QC efforts throughout project execution.
• Communicate inspection findings, recommendations, and project updates to clients and project teams.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety while working in active construction and industrial environments.
• Managing field assignments throughout the Wichita Region.
