Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Rear Seat Structure Design Release Engineer to own rear seat subsystems from concept through launch into production. You will define system requirements, lead design, and drive robust execution with independent judgment and technical leadership.

This role is hybrid, on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week, with travel up to 15–25% for plant builds, supplier visits, and launches. Collaboration across safety, CAE, and manufacturing is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required (Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum 5 years in product development, preferably with seating or structural components.
• Ability to read and interpret 3D data and review designs with tools like Vis-Mock-up.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and integration of rear seat structures for large programs.
• Own and develop SORs for rear seat subsystems with cross-functional teams.
• Lead design reviews to ensure safety, robustness, and program targets.
• Define ICDs for interfaces and resolve conflicts.
• Lead PDT for components, including timing, BOM, DFMA, risk mitigation.
• Conduct trade-off studies considering cost, mass, timing, manufacturability, safety, and quality.
• Release production designs on time meeting requirements.
• Communicate across program teams, plants, suppliers, and QA.
• Lead the launch of rear seat structure subsystems at plants and suppliers.
• Lead problem-solving for cost, quality, safety, warranty issues.
