Job summary

RTX BBN Technologies in Middletown, RI seeks a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to design and implement real-time embedded C software across heterogeneous platforms, hardware interfaces and DoD-grade systems.

You will work with Linux and VxWorks RTOS, collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to proposals and design reviews. Onsite relocation is available; US citizenship and security clearance required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 8+ years of experience, or Advanced STEM degree with 5+ years.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
Experience in at least two of: Embedded C/C++, High-Performance Computer Systems, Embedded Real-Time Sensors and Control Applications, and/or Advanced Software Architecture Design.
Experience with embedded RTOS (Linux, Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks).
Experience integrating hardware, firmware and software.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test and integrate high-performance embedded real-time software on multi-processor hardware.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test contributions and analyze performance.
Integrate components into a larger system for real-world testing and deployment.
Teaching, coaching, and mentoring less-experienced staff.
Contributing to proposals as well as preliminary and critical design reviews.
