Job summary

WHEDco, a community development organization in the South Bronx, seeks a Real Estate Project Manager to oversee capital projects from inception to completion across three mixed-use properties. You will collaborate with the Director of Housing and Real Estate to address building needs, plan capital work, and use data to measure impact for long-term sustainability.

The role requires managing funding processes, coordinating with residents and vendors, and ensuring projects meet schedule and budget

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in real estate development, property management, urban planning, business, or affordable housing.
• Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in real estate, construction, property or facilities management, affordable housing, or a related field.
• Experience working in NYC with agencies (e.g., DOB, FDNY, HPD) or in a role with agency coordination/ reporting.
• Strong organizational, budgeting, and analytical skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage WHEDco's capital projects, including new construction and renovations; assist in funding processes and project tracking.
• Serve as a liaison among vendors, project teams, residents, and WHEDco staff to ensure timely completion.
• Lead on-site and virtual project meetings; maintain communication with consultants and contractors to keep projects on time and within budget.
• Manage utilities and energy performance across WHEDco's properties; monitor and ensure compliance with local codes and energy programs.
• Coordinate emergency systems, safety plans, and business continuity planning for WHEDco's programs.
• Ensure building compliance with funding/regulatory agencies; support monitoring and removing building violations.
• Support asset management by identifying resident-impact issues and developing capital plans; evaluate ROI and financial impact.
• Engage residents and staff in recycling and energy-saving initiatives to reduce operating costs.
