Job summary

Compass International Holdings is seeking experienced Litigation Counsel to support our real brokerage litigation team across Compass, Coldwell Banker, Corcoran, Christie’s, Sotheby’s Realty, and @properties. The role requires strong courtroom skills, independent work, and collaboration with business partners while supervising outside counsel.

This in-office position offers flexibility for remote work and onsite requirements for commutable SoCal candidates.

Qualifications

• JD Degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial litigation experience.
• Ability to independently litigate civil matters.
• Some real estate brokerage experience preferred.
• Some in-house legal department experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with all staff and management.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Consultative approach to mitigating risk.
• High integrity and alignment with company values.
• Positive, can-do demeanor.
• Bar Admission: California.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of real estate brokerage litigation from inception through trial or settlement.
• Litigate a personal docket of civil litigation matters and supervise outside counsel.
• Prepare and defend company witnesses at deposition and depose adverse parties.
• Draft, argue, and respond to motions, pleadings, and briefs.
• Conduct legal research on complex issues and develop strategic recommendations.
• Represent the company in court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, trials and regulatory proceedings.
• Manage a docket of cases outside of CA handled by outside counsel.
