Job summary

Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. in Pasadena seeks a Senior Accountant to own day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial real estate joint ventures. You will partner with Asset Services, support monthly reporting, and contribute to debt compliance and external audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred
• At least years of relevant accounting experience required
• Public accounting experience highly preferred
• Commercial real estate accounting experience at a public company preferred
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to apply technical accounting guidance
• Experience preparing financial statements and managing general ledger activities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders
• Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills; Yardi experience desirable

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial activities for a portfolio of commercial real estate joint venture properties
• Analyze monthly property-level income statements and balance sheet trends, investigate fluctuations and identify key financial drivers
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to sub-ledgers and supporting schedules for accurate reporting
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Collaborate with Asset Services to evaluate operating results and leasing activity, review budgets, and address tenant inquiries
• Assist with monthly/quarterly joint venture reporting deliverables for executive management
• Prepare quarterly and annual debt compliance packages
• Research and analyze technical accounting matters under U.S. GAAP
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and audit requests
