Job summary

Lennar, a leading U.S. homebuilder, seeks a Director, Assistant General Counsel, Real Estate to guide land acquisition, development, title, and related real estate transactions.

JD and 10–15 years in real estate, with in-house or top firm experience, are required. You will manage outside counsel, advise leadership, and coordinate closing activities.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, timely, and business-oriented legal advice on land acquisition, land banking, land development, title, entitlement, construction, and related real estate matters.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage purchase and sale agreements, amendments, easements, access agreements, reimbursement agreements, cost-sharing agreements, development-related agreements, escrow arrangements, and other documents through closing and post-closing follow-up.
• Support all phases of the transaction lifecycle, including LOIs, due diligence, title and survey review, zoning and entitlement issues, internal approvals, closing coordination, and post-closing obligations.
• Partner with internal teams to identify issues early, align legal and business strategy, and keep transactions moving efficiently.
• Review title commitments, surveys, plats, covenants, HOA/CC&R documents, development agreements, and other diligence materials; provide clear guidance on risk and closing conditions.
• Manage outside counsel on selected matters, including scope, work product, and budgets.
• Prepare and support legal and internal approval packages, closing checklists, and dispute strategy.
• Help develop forms, playbooks, training, and legal processes for consistency and risk management across transactions.
