Job summary

Lennar is seeking a Director/Assistant General Counsel for Real Estate to provide strategic legal guidance on land acquisition, development, title, and related transactions. You will collaborate with Land Acquisition, Finance, and Operations teams to close complex deals while managing outside counsel and budgets.

The role demands a JD with 10–15 years of real estate experience, strong drafting skills, and the ability to balance risk with business needs in a fast-paced homebuilding environment.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice
• 10–15 years of legal experience in real estate transactions, land acquisition, land development, homebuilding, or related practice
• Experience drafting and negotiating acquisition and development documents and advising on title, survey, diligence, and closing issues
• Ability to provide clear, practical, risk-balanced guidance to business leaders and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
• Experience managing outside counsel and legal spend; in-house or homebuilder/land developer experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, timely, business-oriented legal advice on land acquisition, land banking, land development, title, entitlement, construction, and related real estate matters
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage purchase and sale agreements, easements, and related documents through closing and post-closing
• Support all phases of the transaction lifecycle, including LOIs, due diligence, title and survey review, zoning, approvals, and post-closing obligations
• Partner with Land Acquisition, Land Development, Finance, Operations, Risk, Lennar Title, and other teams to keep transactions moving efficiently
• Review title commitments, surveys, and related documents, advising on risk and closing conditions
• Manage outside counsel on matters, including scope, work product, and cost discipline
• Prepare and support internal approvals, closing checklists, and documentation for transactions
• Help develop and improve forms, playbooks, and training to promote consistency and risk management across activities
