Job summary

Tailored Brands, a leading menswear retailer, seeks a Sr Director, Sr Real Estate Counsel to oversee the U.S. and Canada store portfolio.

You will lead a Real Estate Counsel team, negotiate leases, and coordinate with store operations, finance, and construction to drive growth and optimize the portfolio. The role requires a JD, active US Bar membership, and 10+ years of CRE experience in retail leasing, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active US State Bar membership.
• 10+ years of legal experience in commercial real estate, esp. retail leasing.
• Proven experience independently negotiating and closing commercial leases and related agreements.
• People management experience leading a team of Real Estate Counsel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the real estate legal function for Tailored Brands' retail portfolio in the U.S. and Canada.
• Draft, review, and negotiate leases, LOIs, amendments, and related real estate agreements.
• Supervise the Real Estate Counsel team and ensure timely, high-quality work product.
• Partner with SVP Real Estate & Construction on deal strategy and portfolio decisions.
• Maintain accurate lease files, flag timing risks, and advise on disputes and landlord defaults.
• Coordinate with Construction, Store Operations, and Finance on real estate transactions.
• Manage outside counsel to balance business goals with cost.
