Our SelectLeaders client specializes in building residential communities with unique amenities. They have extensive experience in deploying, preserving, and growing capital in real estate investments and development worldwide.

The Senior Accountant will handle financial reporting for corporate, residential land development, and build-to-rent projects. Responsibilities include leading the month-end close, managing account reconciliations, processing invoices, overseeing payments, intercompany accounting, audits, and reporting. Collaboration with various teams such as Acquisitions, Asset Management, Operations, Legal, and Property Management is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Oversight: Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records and reports.
  • Teamwork and Engagement: Build relationships with peers, vendors, financial institutions, and auditors.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP, Tax Accounting, JV agreements, and company policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, mentor staff, and support company goals.
  • Core Competencies: Develop skills in research, accuracy, organization, judgment, and communication.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the general ledger and financial transactions.
  • Prepare financial statements and reporting packages.
  • Reconcile and analyze ledger and portfolio accounts.
  • Ensure correctness of entries and maintain portfolio accounts.
  • Process annual 1099s and assist in financial schedule preparations.
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage cash reports.
  • Understand legal entity structures for proper accounting.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable for invoice processing.
  • Manage month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare management fee calculations.
  • Ensure timely financial closing.
  • Collaborate with asset management, underwriting, marketing, operations, and legal teams.
  • Implement data management best practices and ensure reporting consistency.
  • Coordinate portfolio accounts and audits with external parties.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4-7 years of accounting experience, with 1-3 years in portfolio or asset management accounting; real estate development background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficiency in Sage, TimberScan, MS-Outlook.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proactive, ethical, deadline-oriented team player.
Salary & Benefits:
  • $90,000-$125,000 base + bonus.
