Job summary

Airswift seeks a Reactor Physics & Neutronics Engineer II to join a growing nuclear engineering organization focused on advanced reactor and energy technologies in Houston. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience in reactor physics, neutronics, nuclear analysis, or related engineering fields.
  • Strong understanding of reactor physics fundamentals, including neutron behavior, reactivity, flux distributions, power distributions, depletion, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Experience performing analytical calculations, simulations, and technical evaluations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document and present technical findings effectively.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and commitment to technical excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reactor physics and neutronics calculations to support engineering design, safety analyses, and operational assessments.
  • Develop, execute, maintain, and document computational models using established reactor physics and neutronics methodologies.
  • Conduct neutron transport, reactivity, depletion, shielding, and core performance analyses.
  • Support criticality evaluations, fuel management studies, and reactor performance assessments.
  • Perform sensitivity and uncertainty analyses to evaluate the impact of assumptions, input parameters, and modeling approaches.
  • Support verification, validation, and benchmarking activities using experimental data, test results, and industry-accepted standards.
  • Collaborate with thermal-hydraulics, safety, systems, mechanical, materials, and testing teams on integrated engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical input to safety analyses, licensing documentation, regulatory responses, and design-basis evaluations.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, analysis packages, model documentation, and supporting records in accordance with quality and configuration management requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews, problem resolution efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Take ownership of assigned technical tasks and contribute to project execution and technical decision-making.
