Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Sr. Commodity Engineer for Raw Materials to lead end-to-end supply chain strategy for critical metals including aluminum, copper, titanium, and steel. You will standardize material specs, build a master catalog, and drive supplier qualification to enable high-rate manufacturing.

You will collaborate with design, materials & processes, procurement, and production teams to optimize cost, quality, and availability while reducing scrap and variability across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• 10+ years in materials engineering, commodity management, or sourcing.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-consequence manufacturing environments.
• Working knowledge of material specifications and standards (AMS, ASTM, MIL-SPEC).
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to influence across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive design standardization effort across aluminum, copper and other raw materials to consolidate part numbers and specs.
• Develop and maintain a master raw material catalog with alloys, dimensions, surface treatments; define heat treat conditions.
• Partner to develop a multi-year commodity strategy and LTAs; align with production ramp and cost targets.
• Identify and implement corrective actions to improve material forecasting, stocking, and supplier performance.
