Job summary

TRAX International Corporation seeks an experienced Range Boat Captain to operate, maintain, and navigate government-furnished range control vessels on the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) in support of NSWCDD events. The role emphasizes safety of personnel, protection of watercraft, and readiness of vessels throughout the test season.

Requirements include seven years’ vessel operation experience on larger craft, DoD range/marine ops experience, MMC Inland Waters, and a valid US driver's license.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years operating vessels 30 feet or larger on inland or near-coastal restricted waterways
  • 3+ years of DoD/military range or Navy-controlled restricted waterways operations
  • Pre/post-underway inspections and basic preventive maintenance on small patrol vessels
  • Experience directing the activities of subordinate crew members
  • Valid USCG MMC: Master of Self-Propelled Vessels, Inland Waters, up to 100 Gross Tons; Radar Endorsement
  • Valid U.S. driver's license; willingness to work on-site at Dahlgren, VA

Responsibilities

  • Operate the assigned range control vessel during all scheduled and unscheduled test events
  • Direct vessel operations and range safety procedures
  • Maintain vessel deck log and report status to Range Operations Center
  • Perform preventive maintenance per government schedules and manufacturer guidance
  • Ensure compliance with range safety policies and security requirements
  • Coordinate with Range and Marine Maintenance personnel for issues and repairs
