Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Senior Range Safety Manager to lead the TTD safety program for DoW ranges, ARA facilities, and proving grounds.

You will develop safety plans, perform risk analyses, and ensure regulatory adherence while coordinating with engineers and clients. The role requires a strong background in defense/aerospace testing, 10+ years of supervisory experience, and the ability to communicate complex safety concepts to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Degree in safety, engineering, or related field from an accredited program.
• Extensive defense/aerospace testing background with DoD or DoW exposure preferred.
• 10+ years in supervisory roles with staff mentoring demonstrated.
• Proven primary safety representative with client communications and safety plan integration.
• Strong written/verbal communication under tight testing schedules.
• Experience leading safety management systems and incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs aligned with OSHA and standards.
• Lead safety readiness reviews and pause operations if safety controls fail.
• Draft safety variances, incident reports, and justifications for clients and regulators.
• Coordinate with customers and test teams to adjust procedures safely.
• Oversee hazard/risk management and maintain safety data and reports.
• Lead training programs and certify staff for Competent Person and heavy equipment work.
