Job summary

AeroVironment seeks a highly skilled Range Safety & Flight Termination Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency's Target and Countermeasures Engineering Directorate. You will serve as Range Safety expert during flight tests and contribute to flight termination testing.

You will oversee requirements development, verification for target system FTS products, and author technical reports detailing status and recommendations. Travel for mission deployments is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in STEM required.
• 12+ years of experience in defense/aerospace.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Demonstrated background in flight termination systems and ordnance systems.
• Familiarity with RCC-319 and RCC-324.”
• Experience with range tracking architectures (GPS/IMU/C-band).
• Strong written and verbal briefing skills; willingness to travel for deployments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Range Safety expert on behalf of Targets Program during flight tests and testing.
• Oversee requirements development, allocation and verification for target system FTS products.
• Conduct technical surveillance across FTS hardware/software development, qualification, acceptance, integration, and checkout.
• Author technical reports detailing system status, findings, and recommendations.
• Represent government stakeholder interests in technical working groups, customer forums, and design reviews.
