Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Senior Range Safety Manager to lead the Test Technology Division's safety program for DoW ranges, ARA facilities, and proving grounds.

You will implement comprehensive EHS programs, coordinate with clients, and maintain compliance across heavy equipment, chemical, and confined-space activities. Lead safety readiness reviews, develop procedures, and mentor safety staff while coordinating with DoD clients.

Qualifications

• Accredited degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Engineering, Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of supervisory experience in safety leadership.
• Experience acting as primary safety representative with client coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication under pressure.
• Experience with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, MSHA, DOT, and ANSI regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs aligned with OSHA and standards.
• Monitor regulatory updates and ensure compliance.
• Hazard & Risk Documentation and JHAs using quantitative data.
• Author and maintain Health and Safety Plan for test operations.
• Review and modify SOPs for safety plans.
• Lead safety readiness reviews and pause unsafe operations.
• Draft safety variance requests and incident reports.
• Collaborate with customers to adjust test procedures safely.
• Oversee hazard and risk management across operations.
• Define exclusion zones and safety boundaries.
• Develop protocols for heavy equipment, structural, chemical, and PRCS.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses.
• Lead investigations and root-cause analyses.
• Maintain safety data and prepare reports for leadership.
• Mentor Safety Officers and manage EHS budget.
• Oversee environmental compliance and IH monitoring.
• Maintain safety inventory and testing equipment.
