Job summary

Redd Summit Ranches LLC is seeking a dedicated Working Ranch Manager to oversee one of our range cattle and cow-calf operations. The role includes livestock management, budget oversight, and collaboration with RC and RFX support staff to ensure efficient operations.

The position emphasizes leadership, safety, and hands-on ranch duties across cattle handling, routine maintenance, and project planning in a remote, wide-open environment.

Qualifications

• The candidate has at least 5 years of experience managing large herds in extensive ranges.
• Strong horsemanship and calm handling of cattle in low-stress conditions.
• Knowledge of cattle care, health issues, and preventive management.
• Basic mechanical skills for equipment operation and minor repairs.
• Experience with fencing, welding for pipe fences, and maintenance.
• Experience with water pipelines, wells, pumps and drinkers.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and long hours.
• Strong communication and safety-first mindset.
• Ranching is treated as a lifestyle with reliability and honesty.
• Self-starting with problem-solving and good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise employees and day workers while enforcing company guidelines.
• Provide leadership for cattle movements, gathering, doctoring, branding and shipping.
• Monitor cattle and rangeland conditions and performance benchmarks.
• Manage permits with government agencies per grazing rotations and regs.
• Oversee budgets and expenses related to cattle care and ranch ops.
• Ensure property and facilities maintenance standards are met.
• Plan and implement projects to maximize ranch use and herd improvement.
• Maintain records via task management software and data entry.
• Adapt processes and technologies to improve operations.
• Maintain positive relationships with families, employees, neighbors, vendors.
