Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior track geometry designer/engineer in the United States to lead design efforts for railway projects. You will develop geometry plans, calculations, and schedules while ensuring QA/QC per project procedures.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with the track design manager, and support overseas initiatives, leveraging MicroStation and BIM tools to meet AREMA and CPUC standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Ten years of experience in track geometry and track design.
  • Experience with AREMA/CPUC and related standards.

Responsibilities

  • Produce track geometry design plans and specifications.
  • Produce design calculations, quantities, cost estimates.
  • Manage the track plans production schedule.
  • QA/QC on each deliverable per project QA/QC procedure.
  • Collaborate with track design manager to implement best practices.
  • Conduct team meetings and participate in project team meetings.
  • Draft and submit project work plan including schedule, budget, and resources.
  • Support design engineering manager and track design manager.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineer staff.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
  • Delegate tasks to project team members.
  • Support planning and reviewing of project schedule.
  • Support International Group Railway Department in overseas projects.

Job description

  • Produce track geometry design plans and specifications

  • Manage the track plans production schedule
  • Perform QA/QC on each deliverable per project specific QA/QC procedure
  • Collaborate with track design manager to implement best practices related to track design
  • Conduct team meetings and attend project team meetings

  • Support the design engineering manager and track design manager

Requirements
  • Minimum Education: bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in track geometry and track design
  • Experience with local and national standards (AREMA, CPUC, etc)
  • Knowledge of High-Speed Rail standards is a plus
  • Experience with local public authorities (Metrolink, LA Metro, Amtrak, CAHSR, etc)
  • Proficiency with either MicroStation Inroads, MicroStation PowerRail, MicroStation Openrail or AutoCAD Civil 3D design
  • P.E license in California and other states is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office
  • Experience with Primavera, ProjectWise, BIM and 3D modeling software is a plus
  • Valid driver's license, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier.
