Job summary

Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc. is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead financial and contractual activities on rail projects based in Oakland, CA.

The role emphasizes accurate cost control, invoicing, and claims management within a fast-paced construction environment. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience with contractors, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and proven ability to prepare valuations, risk assessments, and monthly reports while coordinating

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a contractor.
Familiar with rail/metro projects and transit systems technologies (power, signalling, telecom, SCADA).
Strong communication, presentation and documentation skills; ability to deliver accurate reports.

Responsibilities

Issue monthly statements with the Construction Manager per project plan.
Collaborate with Construction Manager to obtain PPC approval from the client.
Ensure PPC and invoices comply with contractual requirements and STS procedures.
Support claims, variations and BOM calculations with economic evaluations.
Perform re-measurements and maintain risk registers, trackers, and monthly reports.
Prepare interim payment applications and internal valuations for clients and subcontractors.
