Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Oakland, California, to manage a broad range of surveying tasks from administration to strategy. The role involves close collaboration with Construction Management on monthly statements, PPC approvals, invoicing, claims, risk tracking, and reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience with contractors, familiarity with rail/transit systems, and strong budgeting, planning, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor for a contractor.
• Experience with rail metro projects and transit systems technologies.
• Strong communication, presentation and documentation skills.
• Experience with estimating, budgeting and planning.
• Ability to produce timely, accurate reports and professional documents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly statements with the Construction Manager according to project planning.
• Secure PPC approval by the client and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
• Process invoices in line with STS procedures and contractual requirements.
• Support claims and variations with economic evaluations (priced BOM).
• Maintain risk registers, trackers and monthly reporting.
• Prepare interim progress applications and internal valuations.
• Coordinate material receipt and address shortages.
