Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a seasoned mechanical operations leader to oversee car shops, locomotive shops, repair-in-place tracks, and service terminals for high-speed and conventional rail initiatives. You will supervise all mechanical operations at the location and serve as the mechanical point of contact for state-supported services and contracts in the division.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of railway and rail transit rolling stock; extensive servicing, repair and maintenance program experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience in budget and financial control; contract management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, development, and management of resources for inspection and mechanical service activities from conceptual design to project close-out, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate inspection and mechanical service activities with internal stakeholders and external organizations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with maintenance alerts, regulatory requirements, and supplier instructions.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance inspection and servicing across extended areas.
  • Monitor productivity, making procedural adjustments as needed, and oversee safety plans and programs for inspection and mechanical services.
  • Direct the strict implementation of maintenance alerts, FRA and FDA regulatory requirements, supplier maintenance instructions and SMPs.
  • Develop and implement inspection and mechanical service-related safety plans and programs.
  • Provide guidance to cross-functional teams to ensure proper management of schedules, financials, and resources.
  • Oversee goals ensuring safe and efficient completion of inspection and mechanical service programs within scope, schedule, and budget.
