Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks motivated Radiological Control Technicians (RCTs) to support advanced nuclear and radiological missions across SNS/HFIR, isotope research, and nuclear facility operations. You will work in the Radiological Protection Operations Group within the Nuclear & Radiological Protection Division, contributing to safety excellence and mission success.

Qualifications

• AS/AA degree + 5 years radiological protection experience (or HS diploma with 7 years of related experience).
• DOE Senior Radiological Control Technician qualification preferred.
• ANSI/ANS 3.1-1987 Senior RCT preferred.
• NRRPT registration preferred.
• Broad experience in operational radiation protection at a DOE National Laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Radiation and contamination monitoring.
• Collection of air samples.
• Posting and labeling of radioactive materials.
• Access control into radiological areas.
• Radioactive waste surveys.
• Radiological job coverage during higher hazard radiological work.
• Mentoring of radiological workers.
• Obtain qualification and be able to work shift relief as needed.
