Job summary

N3B Los Alamos is hiring a Radiological Control Technician to support radiological safety for the Los Alamos mission operations. You will conduct monitoring and surveys, ensure protection procedures, and mentor junior staff within the Radiation Protection Division.

Responsibilities include field monitoring, permit implementation, incident response, and coordination with supervisors to allocate resources for high-hazard work. DOE security considerations apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 2+ years related experience required.
  • DOE O 426.2 exposure and experience preferred.
  • Experience in radiological protection and monitoring processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine radiation monitoring support for assigned locations.
  • Provides radiological support for routine activities to ensure compliance with procedures incl. 10 CFR 835.
  • Mentor junior technicians in radiological protection techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and reports of monitoring and surveillance activities.
  • Implement radiation protection procedures across diverse activities.
  • Implement radiation work permits for various tasks.
  • Respond to radiological emergency situations.
  • Must be able to drive and be insurable to operate government vehicles.
