Job summary

N3B Los Alamos in Los Alamos, NM is seeking a Radiological Control Technician to provide essential radiological safety support for operations. You will conduct monitoring and surveys, ensure compliance with procedures for beta/gamma and neutron radiation, and perform routine radiation protection tasks to protect workers and the public.

In this role you will mentor junior technicians, prepare documentation, and coordinate with supervision to allocate resources for high-hazard work.

Qualifications

  • High-hazard radiological work experience with engineered controls.
  • Strong knowledge of radiation protection principles and practices.
  • Experience in radiation monitoring and personnel exposure control.
  • Familiarity with DOE and NRC orders/regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-hazard activities and priorities.
  • Excellent record-keeping and organization skills.
  • Active DOE Q security clearance is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine radiation monitoring support for assigned locations.
  • Provides radiological support for routine activities to ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Mentor junior technicians in proper radiological protection techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and reports of monitoring and surveillance activities.
  • Implement radiation protection procedures for a wide range of tasks.
  • Implement radiation work permits for various tasks.
  • Respond to radiological emergency situations.
