Job summary

Astranis Space Technologies Corp. is seeking a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to design fault-tolerant, radiation-hardened electrical systems and avionics for high‑orbit satellites. You will lead simulations to assess GTO and GEO radiation effects and drive testing campaigns to qualify COTS components.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on shielding optimization, mentor junior engineers, and support hardware bring-up, schematic capture, and layout reviews. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with electronics/semiconductor focus.
• Extensive hands-on electrical hardware design, development, and troubleshooting in space/high-reliability environments.
• Deep understanding of Geostationary radiation environment and degradation mechanisms (TID, SEE, DDD).
• Experience leading technical projects and managing risk in high-reliability systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect fault-tolerant, radiation-hardened electrical systems and avionics architectures.
• Lead simulation and modeling to evaluate GTO and GEO radiation effects.
• Drive radiation testing campaigns to upscreen/qualify COTS and automotive-grade components.
• Collaborate with mechanical/structural teams for 3D ray-tracing and shielding optimization.
• Provide mentorship and support hardware bring-up, schematic capture, and layout reviews.
• Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and mentoring teammates.
