Astrion seeks a Senior Engineer/Scientist to support the U.S. Navy's Expeditionary Radar (ExR) program, onsite at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren in Dahlgren, VA. The role emphasizes systems engineering, MBSE, and radar performance analyses to guide architecture and verification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited program in listed fields.
  • Must have a current DoD Secret clearance or be able to obtain it.
  • Engineering degree from ABET-accredited curriculum required.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering/scientific experience; advanced degrees may count.
  • Experience in systems engineering for radar, sensors, or similar systems.
  • Experience with requirements development, decomposition, allocation, traceability, specs and interfaces.
  • Experience applying MBSE methods to architecture, requirements, or design.
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, or radar performance analysis.
  • Ability to prepare and present clear technical analyses and docs.
  • On-site work at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren required.
  • U.S. citizen status required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute systems engineering plans for radar system design, integration, verification, and sustainment.
  • Define, decompose, allocate, and manage system and subsystem requirements across hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain system specifications, baselines, and interface control documents.
  • Assess completeness, consistency, traceability, and technical compliance of requirements.
  • Apply MBSE processes to support architecture, requirements management, design analysis, and decision-making.
  • Perform radar system architecture, interoperability, and performance analyses.
  • Develop models/tools to predict and verify radar-system performance.
  • Support model verification, validation, and accreditation by comparing results with data.
  • Participate in radar, combat-system, and platform integration activities.
  • Support radar signal-processing engineering, waveform development, clutter management, and EMC.
  • Plan and support focused integration and test activities and document results.
  • Prepare technical reports and briefings for Government program managers.
