Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Manager, R&D Software Engineering in Milpitas, CA. You will lead the Laser software team, guiding architecture, design, and development for safety-critical medical device applications.

You will mentor engineers, manage end-to-end software life cycles, and ensure regulatory and quality documentation. Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in embedded and GUI software development in medical device domain.
• 4+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Experience delivering software for embedded systems in consumer electronics, automotive, medical devices, or industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers; define goals, roadmaps, and metrics.
• Guide architecture, design, development, and integration for safety-critical medical device software.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (FDA 21 CFR Part 820, IEC 62304) and maintain traceability.
• Manage multiple projects; collaborate with hardware, QA, regulatory, and operations; deliver on time within budget.
