Job summary

Barnhart is seeking an experienced R&D Fluid Power & Controls Engineer to develop hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, plus electrical controls for specialized gear used in heavy lift and transport. You will join a team focused on design, testing, and on-site support across North America.

Requires a minimum of 7 years in hydraulic/control systems for mobile equipment, strong CAD and IQAN software proficiency, and ability to travel to job sites for project execution.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of qualifying experience in hydraulic and control systems for mobile equipment.
• PE license is a plus; OSHA 10 required.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, ASME, ANSI, AWS standards and regulations are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Design hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems for mobile equipment.
• Develop prototypes, analyze designs, and prepare CAD drawings.
• Create and review hydraulic/electrical schematics and BOMs.
• Provide on-site technical support during lifting and transport jobs.
• Train operators and ensure proper equipment use and maintenance.
• Collaborate with field personnel and vendors to source parts.
