Job summary

Barnhart Crane & Rigging in Memphis seeks a Lead Research & Development Engineer to drive high-impact projects with hands-on design and team leadership. You will balance technical depth with mentoring a team of Senior R&D Engineers, Level II/I Engineers, and Interns, delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.

The role combines senior technical contribution with leadership, ensuring compliance with industry standards and advancing innovation within heavy lift and modular transport

Qualifications

PE license required; OSHA 10 preferred.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil ABET-accredited.
10+ years in mechanical/structural design for heavy lift industries and leadership of engineering teams.
Proven ability to deliver complex, high-impact projects.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate a single engineering team, aligning with project objectives.
Provide hands-on design, analysis, and reviews for high-complexity tasks.
Serve as technical authority to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.
Mentor engineers and drive staff development.
