Job summary

Georgia-Pacific’s Research & Development team at the Neenah Technical Center is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer - Converting to advance tissue-based consumer products such as bath tissue, paper towels, and napkins. You will blend hands-on equipment work with materials science and data-driven experimentation to understand how tissue structure and converting operations influence product performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field with 5+ years in converting or related R&D.
• Hands-on lab or pilot-scale experimentation experience.
• Experience with DOE, ANOVA, or regression analysis.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead research linking tissue structure to converting operations and finished-product performance.
• Design and execute lab and pilot studies using the scientific method.
• Translate laboratory insights into commercially viable tissue-converting technologies and manufacturing improvements.
• Design, prototype, and evaluate tissue-converting components and tooling to improve quality and efficiency.
• Serve as a technical leader, mentoring colleagues and guiding product decisions.
• Collaborate with universities, suppliers, and OEMs to accelerate technology adoption.
• Identify and protect intellectual property through disclosures and patent activity.
• Communicate progress, risks, and next steps to technical and business audiences.
