ABB in Mebane, NC, is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to oversee research and development from concept to implementation. You will drive innovative switchgear designs, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in electrical or mechanical engineering and 8 years of R&D experience in power equipment. Proficiency in 3D CAD and familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA/UL standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 8 years of R&D experience in electrical power equipment.
• Design experience in switchgears, motor controllers, power protection, transformers or meters.
• Experience with ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, UL or IEC standards.
• Proficient in 3D CAD design and modeling; able to mentor juniors.
• Lead R&D projects using a stage-gate process; strong communication skills.
