Infleqtion is seeking a Staff Quantum Sensor Physicist to translate customer needs into practical architectures for deployable atom-based inertial and gravitational sensors. You will lead projects across atom interferometry, instrumentation, and quantum sensing hardware.

The role requires a PhD, post-PhD experience, strong collaboration with engineering teams, and excellent communication with customers. Domestic travel up to 10% may be required; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• PhD required in a relevant field.
• Experience with atom-based inertial and/or gravitational sensors, atom interferometry, or related hardware.
• Ability to balance physics performance with reliability, operability, integration cost and schedule.
• Experience designing, building, and debugging complex hardware and software systems.
• Experience developing models, simulations, calculations, and error budgets.

Responsibilities

• Participates in and/or leads R&D projects involving atom interferometry and quantum sensing systems.
• Translates customer needs into practical sensor architectures, requirements, and development plans.
• Leads or supports development from concept to deployment.
• Develops physics models to guide performance and risk assessment.
• Collaborates with engineering teams to convert physics concepts into buildable designs.
• Participates in proposals and customer discussions and communicates progress to stakeholders.
