Job summary

Amazon Science seeks a Senior Quantum Applied Scientist for the Device team to lead design, simulation, and measurement of superconducting qubits. You will drive models to explain results and guide new device designs, collaborating with design, fabrication, processor, and exploratory research teams.

This role requires deep physics expertise, cross-disciplinary communication, and a track record in applied research.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience working on multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects.
• Expertise in superconducting circuit design and microwave engineering.
• Proficiency in a scientific programming environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop simulations to predict device performance, then design and measure devices leveraging the understood scalings.
• Reduce the gap between simulated predictions and measurements by building more accurate models.
• Communicate scientific findings across the CQC, and share results externally via conferences and publications.
• Identify and evaluate emerging research developments that could impact design decisions.
